Small Text Generator

Small Caps makes small text for a bio or a caption out of your small letters: 24 of the 26 become small capital characters. That is 24 of the 62 keys, and the other 38 are left alone.

Type in the box and each row follows your text. Copy puts a row on your clipboard and the button reads Copied. If copying is refused it reads Selected, and the text stays selected to copy by hand.

Small Caps: 24 characters from three Unicode blocks

Small Caps is not a font. Each of the 24 letters is exchanged for a separate Unicode character with a code point of its own, and all 24 names begin LATIN LETTER SMALL CAPITAL: a typed a becomes U+1D00, LATIN LETTER SMALL CAPITAL A.

The largest of the three blocks is Phonetic Extensions, with 14 of the letters.

a to z in Small Caps, without q and x

Small Caps does not follow the alphabet through Unicode. Taken in alphabetical order, the 24 code points make 20 runs, none longer than two: only c and d, j and k, t and u, v and w are next to each other in the alphabet and in Unicode alike.

Ten Small Caps letters outside the largest block

The ten letters that are not in the largest block are divided between two others.

Their names are built like all the others; g, for one, is U+0262, LATIN LETTER SMALL CAPITAL G.

Capitals, digits, q and x stay as typed

Small Caps passes 38 keys through: all 26 capitals, the digits 0 to 9, and the two small letters q and x. Type a capital and you get the capital you typed.

Two more kinds of small text

Small text can also mean Superscript or Subscript. Each has a page of its own.
